I'm a local guitar teacher in the North London area,  I’ve been teaching now since I finished University 4 and a half years ago, but really ramping it up now. I have a full DBS check and am happy to do grades with students as well as just learning songs they like! All ages also welcome, currently do some part-time work at The Rhythm Studio in West London where I teach young as 6, but have mature students that I teach from home.

I’m always trying to find something fresh in what I do, that will excite me. Drawing on classics from the past, songs and artists that inspired me and blending different styles is the key to a good, full understanding of music. This is something that’s always driven me to keep listening, playing and creating. I don’t believe you should limit yourself to just one instrument, you should have a good grasp of all things music and always remain dedicated to improving. Most of all, I think it’s best we all jam and enjoy playing together, writing, producing. Do what makes you buzz when you hear that tune you love, then you’ll always excel.   Rates: £25 hourly or £220 for 10 lessons.

Everyone plays for a different reason, whether it’s to sing songs around the campfire, stand in the spotlight on stage at Madison Square Garden or put music to the lyrics they write. Similarly, everyone will learn to play guitar or bass guitar in a different way and this is crucial to my approach.

I can teach a variety of styles, all backed up by the solid technical skills I have from classical training, including reading and writing music. I can also show you how to develop your songwriting skills. For learning guitar I recommend starting with classical but will not be in any way insistent.

The best style, after all, is the one that keeps you playing. I will never crowd you, my job is to make you as good or as unique a player as you can be, not ‘as good as’ or ‘like’ me. If you end up better than me that’s more than okay as far as I’m concerned.

If I teach you well, then even 10 years from now you will have the right technical, musical and improvisational skills to teach yourself more things. Playing guitar and bass guitar isn’t easy – but I can make it as easy as possible with short-cuts and tips.

I have been playing and studying the guitar and bass guitar for the last 11 years and have been involved in many bands and projects since I started gigging at the age of 14.  I moved to London when I started working as a session musician.  I am currently 22 years old and I am based in East Dulwich, SE London.  I teach one or two days a week in the Kentish Town / Camden area depending on my calendar.

I have been teaching since November 2015 and pride myself in a friendly and encouraging approach.  I can accommodate for a wide range of styles from blues, rock and pop to jazz, funk and classical.  The most important thing is to always enjoy playing your instrument, so I ensure that I work on songs and projects with my students by artists that they like and will find fun and challenging.  I can cover the major examination boards, which I recommend to my younger students to work towards because the qualifications count towards UCAS.
During my time as a professional musician I have:
  • Toured the UK many times.
  • Performed at prestigious venues like Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Hackney Empire, Electric Ballroom, Brixton Electric, King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, 100 Club to name a few.
  • Performed at festivals across the country such as Reading & Leeds, Bestival, Beautiful Days, Green Man, Boardmasters, Rebellion, Dot To Dot…
  • Had considerable experience in high end recording studios playing lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass guitar and singing.  Personal highlights have been working at Abbey Road and BBC Maida Vale.
  • Recorded live radio sessions for BBC Radio 1 and Radio X.
  • Filmed several music videos.
  • Played 350+ gigs.
I normally travel to student’s houses for lessons, but if you do not have a space at home to take lessons in, then you are welcome to come to my flat in East Dulwich where I have a pleasant, bright living room/home studio.
Lessons are £25/hr.  All ages and abilities are welcome - I have experience teaching students from age 7 to 57!  Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to arrange some lessons or if you have any queries.
