Please note, all Gliga violins are handmade in Romania. Although we always try to keep them in stock in all sizes if an item is out of stock it can take up to 3-4 weeks before we receive delivery.
The Gliga Genial 1 violin is handmade in the European town of Reghin, set in the Carpathian mountain forests in Transylvania.
This famous violin-making region has been a centre of excellence for over 300 years. The Gliga workshops were opened in 1991 and one of the violins made there became a treasured possession of Sir Yehudi Menuhin.
This Genial 1 violin has an excellent sound and is highly suitable for a beginner, and for the player taking lower grades.
It has a Carpathian resonance spruce top with the back, ribs and neck made of lightly-flamed maple. This version of the instrument The fingerboard, pegs, nut and tailpiece are of ebony* , as are the chin rest, saddle and end-pin.
All our Gliga violins have the pegs re-shaped and the action adjusted by our in-house luthier before the go on sale to ensure ease of playing, fitted with Dominant Strings as Standard.
Also available on all our Gliga violins is the option for an additional Stradivari bridge fitting upgrade, in which the bridge is replaced with the highest quality French Despiau, fitted and and sculpted by our resident luthier. at a cost of £90.00
